Our Mission
Education should be a universal right, not a privilege. Curious Kelly exists to democratize access to personalized, adaptive learning for every human—regardless of age, background, ability, language, or circumstance.
We design for the 2-year-old discovering shapes, the 102-year-old exploring astronomy, the neurodivergent learner who needs flexible pacing, the rural family with limited resources, and everyone in between.
Accessibility Commitments
We are actively working to meet and exceed WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Accessibility is not an afterthought—it's a core design principle.
Neurodiversity & Learning Differences
Curious Kelly is designed for neurodivergent learners, including those with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other learning differences.
How We Support Diverse Learners
- No Forced Pacing: Learn at your own speed. Pause mid-lesson and resume anytime.
- Predictable Structure: Every lesson follows a consistent format to reduce cognitive load.
- Sensory Considerations: Minimal animations, no flashing content, calming color palette.
- Choice and Agency: Learners can skip, replay, or explore related topics freely.
- Positive Reinforcement: Focus on progress and curiosity, not grades or competition.
- Quiet Focus Mode: Disable notifications and distractions during lessons.
"My son has ADHD and traditional school is overwhelming. With Curious Kelly, he can pause when he needs to move, replay when he zones out, and learn without judgment. It's the first time I've seen him excited about learning."
Economic Accessibility
We believe cost should never be a barrier to education. While we charge $199/year to sustain our mission, we are committed to expanding access.
Current Initiatives
- Gift Subscriptions: Sponsor a learner in need through our gift program
- Library Partnerships: Free access through participating public libraries (coming 2026)
- Scholarship Program: Need-based scholarships for families (launching Q1 2026)
- Affiliate Program: Earn by sharing Curious Kelly with your community
Future Goals
- Partner with Title I schools to provide free access to underserved students
- Offer sliding-scale pricing based on household income
- Create a "1-for-1" model: every paid subscription funds a free one
Cultural Representation
Our curriculum celebrates diverse cultures, perspectives, and histories. We are intentional about whose stories we tell and how we tell them.
Curriculum Principles
- Global Perspectives: Science, history, and art from all continents and cultures
- Inclusive Language: Gender-neutral examples, diverse names and scenarios
- Authentic Voices: Consult experts and community members for cultural topics
- Avoid Stereotypes: Rigorous review process to eliminate bias and tokenism
Team Diversity (Our Commitment)
As a small, early-stage team, we are committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization as we grow.
Our Goals
- Recruit from underrepresented communities in tech and education
- Pay equitable salaries with transparent compensation bands
- Offer flexible work arrangements for caregivers and people with disabilities
- Provide professional development and mentorship opportunities
- Measure and report on diversity metrics annually
We acknowledge we have work to do. Diversity is not a checkbox—it's an ongoing practice.
